If only N.T. Wright had stayed on as Bishop of Durham for one more year, he might now be holding the office to which his neophyte successor, Justin Welby, was so hastily elevated. This is the kind of theological heft that the See of Canterbury so desperately needs, but certainly does not have with its current occupant.
