It's Green Season (Again)

The liturgical calendar has turned once again in the direction of the color green. That is, we have entered into that season of the Christian year known variously as the "Season after Pentecost," the "Season after Trinity," or "Ordinary Time." In days of yore when mainline Protestantism still had something of a pulse, several denominations adopted the term "Kingdomtide" for no apparent reason.

But whatever name you choose for the season, the color is the same, and since Easter came so historically early this year, we will all get to enjoy staring at those marvelous green paraments every Sunday from now until the end of November. It's not that I have anything against the color green. But it does seem to me that it is the most overused color of the liturgical year.
