"One Concerned Professor" has written an open letter to the trustees of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS). Under the cloak of anonymity, this professor raises questions about the character of SWBTS president Paige Patterson and my favorite Baptist, SBTS president R. Albert Mohler, Jr.
The trustees of both institutions should not dignify such a letter with any kind of official response. The two men whose character is questioned in the letter have plenty of able defenders in the blogosphere and the anonymous critic's hypocrisy should be obvious to everyone.
Anonymity is a very thin disguise for cowardice (even the professor acknowledges his motive for not identifying himself is fear of reprisal in the form of termination of employment) and cowardice is hardly a mark of Christian character.
