Fourth Sunday after Pentecost: Lord, our Refuge and Redeemer

Opening Sentence
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:2

Collect of the Day
O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your loving-kindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Psalter: Psalm 66, 67

Lessons: Numbers 14:26-45Acts 15:1-12Luke 12:49-56

Oh God, before whose face the generations rise and pass away, age after age the living seek Thee and find that of Thy faithfulness there is no end. Our fathers in their pilgrimage walked by Thy guidance and rested on Thy compassion. Thou wast their Refuge, their Rock, their Fortress, and their Might. Still to their children be all that Thou wast to them, the cloud by day, the fire by night. Where but in Thee have we a covert from the storm, or shadow from the heat of life?  In our manifold temptations Thou alone knowest and art ever nigh; in sorrow, Thy pity revives the fainting soul. O Thou sole source of peace and righteousness take now the evil from every heart and join us in one communion with Thy prophets and saints who have trusted in Thee and were not ashamed. O Lord our Refuge and our Redeemer. Amen.
