The Rich Mullins pre-St. Patrick's Day Countdown: Free church boy goes sacramental

Late in his life, Rich Mullins, raised and nurtured on the "free church" tradition, began to take a keen interest in the sacramental/liturgical tradition, growing largely out of his fascination with the life of St. Francis of Assisi. That interest was reflected in the now legendary album, A Liturgy, a Legacy, and a Ragamuffin Band (1993). A pivotal selection from that work, "Peace (A Communion Blessing from St. Joseph's Square," is a beautiful expression of the meaning of the Eucharist. It is an especially significant song for me, having been sung at my ordination in 2005.
